About Gold Hill
Gold Hill, North Carolina is a small town located about 45 miles North East of Charlotte. In the Mid 1800's Gold Hill was a bustling gold mining town that employed up to 3,000 miners and had up to 23 brothels and saloons for the miners to enjoy. Mining, being the dangerous job it was and still is, produced a lot of gold, but took numerous lives at the same time. Today, Gold Hill is a quiet little town that prides it's self on the history of the town. Gold Hill is located Just off US Hwy. 52, 14 miles south of Salisbury, in eastern Rowan County, North Carolina From Salisbury, NC: Take US Hwy 52 south approx. 14 miles to Gold Hill. Turn right at caution light onto Doby Road. Go one block to stop sign and turn left onto US Hwy Old 80. Go one block and turn right at stop sign onto St. Stephens Church Road.
